Assignment #2 - Taryn

 

Students and university alumni gathered at the McKeldin Mall on Tuesday, Sept. 10. 2024. to plant 2,977 flags to honor and remember the lives lost during the terrorist attacks on Tuesday, Sept. 11. 2001. The event, “Operation Stick-It: 9/11 Remembrance” is organised by the University of Maryland's Veteran Student Life office.


Freshmen Angelique Payne, Angelina Calis and Lily Jenkins from the university’s Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps participate in this event for the first time on Tuesday, Sept. 10. 2024.

Enicia Porter, a student worker at the university’s veterans student life office brought her service dog, La Paz Porter to the event, Tuesday, Sept. 10. 2024. Paz enjoys the outdoors and was thrilled to be able to roll on grass.


Harmen Siezen, a senior exchange student from Amsterdam, joined the event as he was at McKeldin Mall when it started at 4.p.m, Tuesday, Sept. 10. 2024.


The flags remain planted in the ground the next day, on Wednesday, Sept. 11. 2024.
