Nikhinson, Dream Assignment

I really enjoy covering protests and similar assignments, but since there wasn't anything huge going on locally in the past week, I was ready to settle for some cool portraits. Lucky for me, in the few hours on Wednesday afternoon that I was going to use to take my portraits, the Key of David Christian Center people decided to show up to campus and drew dozens of counter-protesters.

Morris, dream job assignment

My dream photography job is photographing and creating visuals for my own writing. I have a lot of narrative and autobiographical writing, so this week I decided to do a series of self portraits that could pair with essays-- except I used a friend as a "me" proxy. I dressed her up in my clothes and did her makeup the way I usually do mine. I also shot some pictures of her with objects that I associate with my own writing and my life: a saxophone, which I play, a cat, representing a childhood pet. Somehow I ended up making a kind of narrative in which our identities merge in a slightly uneasy way.

Williams, Dream Assignment

For this week I did my dream photography job, which is travel. But, due to COVID restrictions, I decided to photograph College Park as though I was there travelling, and tried to focus on getting a mixture of spaces less commonly known, as well as the the images you would see in a UMD brochure.

Bergel, Self-assignment

For this assignment, I imagined what a "typical" collegiate breakfast profile for Bon Appétit Magazine would be.
