Photo Assignment #3, Lawrence: Portraits of Kriti Singh
The person I chose to photograph for this assignment is my partner, Kriti Singh. Kriti is a creative and a journalist, like myself, and she is currently working as the AI Labs intern for NPR. Kriti's work is incredibly interesting -- she's constantly tinkering with website design and conducting AI experiments to process massive amounts of data.
In my portraits of Kriti, I tried to capture her stylish personality as a tinkerer and designer with colorful neon lights and intense close ups that show off her imaginative makeup looks. The more naturalistic lighting and photos of her at her kitchen table showcase the eccentric world that she creates in her home, full of old polish movie posters, a cactus, and ikebana flower arrangements.
Close up of Kriti smiling in her bedroom in the morning of Wednesday, February 18th.
Kriti sits at her kitchen table, complete with ikebana flower arrangement and a reading mouse candelabra.
Kriti sits in red lighting with the morning sky coming through drapes.
Kriti sits near at her kitchen table with morning light filtering through, next to her collection of polish movie posters.
Kriti does the "mean face" I requested from her in an attempt to recreate an image from Lord of the Rings.
