This week, I took inspiration from small items in my house–trinkets that seem trivial but have a personal story behind them. Whether it be a memory from my grandparents or a reminder of a reminder of a personal calling and vocation, these pieces mean the world to me.
The first image is a set of four : Tomes 1 through 4 in "La Passe-Miroir" series. The books are originally in French, and I read the first and second in the original language. The mix of French and English encapsulates my studies.
This photo is a close-up of my brother's cymbal–it's a Zildjian, a historic drum company. He's extremely proud of it. With his drums and my father's mandolin, there's always music playing in our house like a true Nashville family.
Pictured above is a birdhouse from the farmer's house in the small town adjacent to mine. My grandmother adores them and gave everyone a little house for Christmas a few years ago. No one uses theirs outside simply because they are too pretty.
Lastly, I photographed a small mushroom meant for a fairy garden. It comes from Homestead Gardens, a large nursery in Davidsonville, Maryland. I grew up going there when my family lived in Maryland about 15 years ago. As a UMD student, I have enjoyed revisiting Homestead every time my parents visit and introducing my friends to this place.
